1.6td. 1990.
After a 900 miles trip over course week In highlands the van used about 1/2 litre oil.
It has no leaks when parked up. Bit of whitish smoke on start up but soon clears.
Anyone think I should be worried about the oil consumption.

VW say 1 ltr every 1000 km is ok,I’ve never had one that used more than 1ltr in 5000 miles

I changed the type of oil on my 1.6 non diesel when I first serviced it. I put in the good synthetic vw oil I use for my Golf Tdi and used lots of oil......when I changed back to mineral oil the oil usage dropped back to within normal limits. 450 miles and the level went from the top mark on the diptick to about the middle mark.
