Rear brake cylinders

I’m currently investigating a brake pedal judder - suspected it must have been something to do with the rear brakes as these were replaced during the winter.
I’ve removed the drums to find that there is a small leak from the cylinder on the passenger side. If I pull back the rubber dust covers over the pistons then there is quite a bit of fluid - does this suggest that the inner cylinder seal has gone?
New cylinders were fitted (Meyle) but they had been sat around about 3 years as I bought them in a job lot of spares.
Thanks!

Possibly.........or perhaps the drums and shoes were so far worn the piston was able to come out far enough to allow fluid to bypass the seal
Meyle is generally decent quality I believe

Drums within spec and new shoes fitted (everything else new also).
Will take them off and investigate

3 years may have gone rusty inside and job lot of spares means they could be older

That’s my thoughts - kind of knew I shouldn’t fit them, but did anyway......
Will get a new pair, if only for peace of mind.

Meyle hydraulic parts are poor quality.

Having just done a search it's fair to say that you are very consistent on this point
Time to link to an old post, but good one, about the quality of spares manufacturers then

So steer clear of Meyle for hydraulics (unless Meyle HD), and the Pagid which itchy linked to are fine and are what I have fitted before

No fluid on the shoes - the leak wasn’t huge but I just didn’t expect to see any fluid round a new cylinder.
An evening of shopping and updating the Rebuild thread.....

Wheel cylinders ordered - at £13.68 delivered then it wasn’t worth messing around.
Thanks for all the help everyone!
