Please can anyone point me to a mechanic, T25 owner or specialist preferably,
it doesnt really have to be a "professional" although thats fine too.

Experiences lately have not been good,
costing money and time and vehicle gets worse not better.
Seems to be no comeback either, so a wiser choice in the first place seems the answer.

Currently I am happy going to Russel in Edinburgh (!!!)
(I recommend him) Syncro Alchemy,
but its not a practical solution to everyday bits and bobs that need doing.

There are many of us doting owners that have trusted mechanics,
so please help me out and tell me of one near Shaftesbury, Dorset.
Its on the border of Wiltshire and Somerset too.

The amount of work I have had done recently I would hope not to need a lot more,
but things come up as we all know, and currently I have no idea where to go for help.

as my engines are AHU (1.8T) and AGG (2.0 Golf) I dont need a WBX specialist,
which in my mind takes the pressure off!
However both my T25s are quite modified in the useful ways,
so I appreciate anyone who is good with upgrades..

I know someone in the Swindon area.... other part of Wiltshire, not a VW specialist but I trust him - any good ?

Of course that closer than Scotland!

I haven't forgotten:

I needed to ring someone else who he has done a lot of work for (and has just had another car dropped off for him to fettle) to get his number. I now have a phone number and have sent him a text - will come back again when I know more

I've just had a call back.

He's busy doing some restorations of some very expensive classic cars (that's his normal line) for customers here in the UK and abroad and has a backlog. I'm afraid he had to decline as he didn't want to be unreliable in terms of timescales.

Looks like some other people trust him too, so sorry this option didn't lead anywhere
