Hopefully in the next couple of days I will be ready to fire up my 2.1 DJ for the first time since it’s top end rebuild of new pistons, piston rings and new cylinder heads.

I read somewhere that on initial start up, that it is good practise to disconnect the HT lead from the coil and turn it over for a while to get the oil up to pressure and pushed around the engine before the first start up. Is this right or should I just fire it up?

In the pic, the pulley wheel is off the water pump as I had trouble with the the crossover pipe from the pump to the right hand head was leaking from the flange which I have now fixed, which was fun!

Yes and you might find it helps to remove the spark plugs as well to ease the initial load on the starter/battery.
