fuel pump gasket

I am currently replacing the fuel pump push rod and gaskets. I got the gaskets from Brickwerks: https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/t3-parts/e ... etrol.html which says they are suitable for between the pump and spacer and spacer and block. Image

But when I removed the fuel pump the gasket between the space and pump looked different to the brickwerks one more like https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/VW-T25-Fuel-Pu ... 2673985160 Image

As haynes says that the spacer should be filled with grease I think this wouldn't work with the brickwerks gasket.

Any advice would be welcome many thanks

Brickwerks shape gasket on both sides is fine to use imo. never has a problem with them. plenty of oil splash to lubricate it.

rare you see the other type for sale.

there is a hole on the spacer same dia as push rod so I can't see why its ant different from a grease point of view but I doubt the grease lasts wil get washed away by hot oil.
never greased mine.

The base of the fuel pump should be packed with high melting point grease up to the pivot shaft. The original gasket was to hold the grease in there. There is no splash lubrication to the pump only a small amount works it's way up the push rod not enough to lubricate the pump.

Many thanks for your help. When I removed my pump I was surprised how much grease was still in it and that's why I though that the smaller gasket wouldn't work as well.

VW rationalised the spare parts gaskets to only the type under the bakelite spacer but you can still get the original gasket.

Thats strange, every time I have taken a pump off the bakerlite spacer recesses have been full of oil.
maybe it lt's down to the spacer tolerances.
seen then pi$$ oil out of the upper gasket too.

Think I will add some grease to mine :ok

Thanks again for your help, just wondered in that diagram states the torque for the fuel pump mounting bolts? I was also wondering if you have a Bentley Manual for the 1.9 DG I cannot find one.
