Hello

Just wondered if anyone has had problems with inline fuel injection pumps for their subaru conversions or fuel injected water boxers?? Have had two in the past six months, less than 700 miles done. The current one no longer responds to the hammer tap to get it going. Seems to be if the van doesnt get used for a few days it sticks.Quite annoying. Have had the pump off and ran it forwards and backwards with a power probe and hammer tap. Its mounted close to the tank. The pumps were only cheap admittedly but has anyone else successfully used a cheap injection pump? Anyone got a proper bosch one and does that work without packing in all the time?

Have you got a good fuel filter before the pump ?

Fuel filter is after fuel pump. Fuel tank is only six months old

It's fairly standard design to have the filter after the pump, though in many cases you will find that there is an in tank lift pump with integral filter, or simply an in tank pump to pre filter fuel before the pump.

If the tank is clean, the pump is operating within its design range and it doesn't run dry, then I think you just need to dig deep for a genuine Bosch pump, or get a s/h one............... unless others can recommend a non Bosch one

A quick google throws up Walbro fuel pumps as an alternative, but RJES says Scooby ones are not suitable as they are in tank as OEM. Another link recommends the Bosch 044 pump. It's a favourite for high flow and pressure applications (and what I generally use), but probably a bit OTT for your application, but they should be reliable, so long as the fittings are suitable. They suffer from dirty fuel, just like the rest, as I have found out.

The genuine pumps from Brickwerks are much better than the alternative type, less noise as well. I had one of the blue pumps and that made some strange sounds from new.

Where is the pump mounted? Richard from RJES told me that a lot fail because they are mounted above the tank outlet and they don’t like it and then fail.
