Hi,
I have talked nicely to it. I have threatened it. I have sworn at it but still it won't come off.
Tapped all round and used Plus Gas. Will not move.
Am using the Claw hammer as removal tool.
Any suggestions please.

Place the claw of the hammer against the lip of the cap, hold the head of the hammer against the disc then hit the claw hammer head horizontally with a lump hammer so it acts as a lever, you need to do this in different places around the diameter. easier to do this at the top so gravity hold the claw against the cap, then rotate the disc (180 degrees is best) to do it at a different position.

Your on the right track a crowbar is better.

Update.
Had another go at removing the 'fixed' cup today.
Tried the crowbar method and the cup is still in place.
Had to take time out as the crowbar slipped off and hit my knee resulting in a visit to the local minor injuries unit.
Large golf ball size lump was investigated in case of kneecap injury. Appears no serious damage but was advised to rest the knee, with ice pack, over the weekend.
Ah well gets me out of washing up duty and gives me time to think how to get the cup off.

Sorry to hear that, how about hitting a hammer with a hammer?

Try tapping a small chisel square on to wedge it apart. Can you drift it off with a bar thru the centre from the inside?

I tend to use the tap 'n turn method, with an appropriate chisel or screwdriver on the back of the cap - another alternative to try.

It's sounds like it's rusted on so a bit of heat might help, just don't burn yourself.

Eventually came off. Tapped and turned many, many, many, many times pus the crowbar.
It looked as though it was just old hard grease that was holding it. We live and learn.
