sliding door handle

have just broken my sliding door handle, how do I know if a new one is the correct one. My vehicle is registered 1984 so cant decide if I should have the long or short one.

What's on it now?
Mine's '84 and its the long one, put a picture up of the door and it's easy to tell.

Long ( early ) Ah Schofield have them, part number 252843703 no letter after the number for early type.
