I am thinking of fitting a high flow GOWESTY oil pump

Does anyone have experience of these?
I don't know if they ship to UK.

Is there any reason not to fit one?

A check in a garage is probably not with oil at 100+ deg C and it makes a big difference.

I'd spend the money on a gauge, what every you do it's the only way to know if you improved it.

then depending on what it tells you try 15W50 oil or look at switch wiring.

Oil pumps don’t make oil pressure. Let’s change out that blue oil pressure sensor first, it’s under the push rods LHS.

I welcome your 13 posts in 2 years..but no, oil pumps do not make pressure. i should not retort but; lets get this blue sensor and wiring checked before we pull the engine and check the bottom end bearings.

Perhaps it's your wording. After all, without the pump oil pressure may well be a tad lower, so an increase in the number of pumps from zero to one results directly in an increase in pressure, therefore (engage Brucie mode) "wadda pumps make...?"
Perhaps you mean that engine oil pressure at a given engine speed is not directly correlated to pump output, but rather a function of many factors, including but not limited to oil viscosity and temperature, engine component wear and pump capacity. If so, I agree.

Did they say any more than "it's ok"? Did they give you any figures? Ideally you need to know the pressure at 80° at 2000rpm, it should be 2bar.
Does the buzzer of doom ever come on?
What's your idle speed like? As a very low idle when hot might make the warning light flicker.
How hot does the engine get?
If oil pressure is marginal there are a couple of workarounds to buy yourself a little more time to save for a rebuild, but worn is worn I'm afraid.
As said, 15W50 (or 20W50) might help a bit, and an o ringed oil pump with little or no endfloat (from Marco) will probably help too, but it's all trying to delay the inevitable.
All this does assume it's not just the switch, so a new blue switch first.

I think double0seven may be suggesting that pumps produce flow, and it is the restrictions to that flow that create pressure.

That said, as the light is flickering at tickover only, the advice remains the same, test the wiring, swap the low pressure switch over or measure the pressure at idle.

That pretty much confirms it's wiring or the switch then

Blue switch wiring chafed through, touching on engine case, most likely. Doesn't stack up as a genuine low pressure indication. Don't go ordering that pump just yet!

Maybe an oil pressure gauge might be a good idea.

Do you really want to start fitting oil pressure gauges and all that without addressing the actual minor and easily fixed problem you have
