Light switch problem

Yes I am asking a lot of questions lately,
and electrics I find difficult.
So recently my TriStar came back to me after lots of work including dash out,
and the headlights now switch on full on both last positions of the switch.
Any ideas for correcting a simple wiring mistake?

do you mean the high/low beam switch on the stalks, or the actual headlight switch ???

Yes so on the rocker switch, it used to just put on the sidelights on the first click,
and then the headlights, dip and main beam depending, on the next, second, click.
Now it switches to headlights at both first and second click, no difference.
Except if the ignitions not on I only get sidelights whatever click.
Electrics not my strong point...

Difficult to diagnose from a distance when someone's been a messin'
Let's assume the lights themselves have not been touched
What is left is either the switch has failed, or the wiring has been changed.
If you had a multimeter you could check that terminal 58 became live on the first click and that terminal 56 only became live on the second click, that would check the switch.
Other than that make sure that the colours of the wires, and the terminal they are connected to on the switch agrees with the diagram I linked to above

Thanks thats clear.
I am off on a long drive for a week today so it will have to wait,
theres a lot of wiring to sort out with the back lights and towing socket too,
I wouldnt want to run short of time (it will take me an age to puzzle out)
and get stressed with something going back together not quite right.
Give myself plenty of time and resources one day.
