Insulation

Hi all,

Im planning to insulate the van next week.

I know this has been written to death.. but one last go.

2 questions

1. What do pepole do with the floor?? Im planning on putting OSB on middle and back but have seen pepole put strips in to the grooves. Is this the reflective foil cut itno strips???? I have read the wiki about putting the foil in the doors and the cab floor, does it reduce noise though??

2. Panels, sides etc Im planning on putting sheeps wool in there, packed to the rafters. then ply to cover the space. I have been reading about sheeps wool and sounds pretty decent. Question though do I need a vapour barrier?? Outside metal - inside metal- sheeps wool - Ply?? Do I need something betwwen inside metal and sheeps wool like a membrane?

Sorry but any advice to help would be ace

:ok

Don’t use anything that soaks up water. Cos it will, even with a vapour barrier.
Closed cell foam, foil bubble wrap stuff. Think about noise insulation too, there’s quite a lot of threads if you search. Your motivation to go down the noise reduction route depends on your engine - diesel or turbo diesel vs petrol. (Aye, I’ve a turbo diesel...)

E D I T just noticed your signature...

Tho I do remember folk mentioning having insulation bagged up within the cavities, so wool would work in that way.

Thanks Rodger.

This is a mindfield. In plastic bags i assume.

I thought wool was supposed to soak up water then release.

God knows

This is what i was thinking

Avoid anything that will soak up moisture and hold it, such as rock wool. We used closed cell foam pipe insulation and foil bubble wrap. Seems to work.

As already mentioned, I have also used closed cell pipe lagging.

Looks interesting.

Thanks for all the advice here.

How about this stuff on the floor and front doors as per wiki

https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Thermal ... m/p/210022" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Then this stuff for sides

https://www.wickes.co.uk/YBS-Superquilt ... l/p/166805" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Taped to metal with foil tape??

I am also going to buy a tub of Bilt hamber Dynax Seam or s50 and plaster it in the voids before I put anything in.

If this is not the way to go please please let me know

I was also looking at Kiravans insulation but

I’m going fir this stuck to the panels first
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-sq-ft-FAT ... Sw5L9XD5qk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Then I’m insulting with this made from plastic bottles. Doesn’t absorb water
