14 pin connection

Hi
As per usual... even the simplest of jobs turns into a much larger problem..!
After replacing the heater blower motor..
Putting dash back in. Go to reconnect the 14 pin connector and it literally crumbles in my hand.
What joy..
Don’t really fancy doing the much talked about pcb replacement surgery, has anyone soldered proper wires to the current flexible pcb with any success..?
Any help much appreciated!
