Hello,
I'd like to increase my wheel size from the stock 14" steel wheels, to a set of 16" wheels. I love the classic look, and have the chrome centre caps already, so steels would be much preferred.
Mine right now (picture included) look naff, and need a refurb/powder coating. There's no point in doing that if the wheels are subpar already...
I'm just wondering what steels will fit, and also fit the chrome caps please?

You're not going to get standard bolt on fit 16" steel wheels with built in hubcap fittings.
There are various steel wheels that will fit (search ' Mefro ' ) but they won't take the chrome VW hubcaps without mods - could be as simple as drilling & fitting Beetle hubcap clips, but pretty sure there are other ways to do it too!
