Got an electric bike need to charge the battery off the leisure battery when flat how do I do it with a inverter.any advice welcome.

inverters just connect to your leisure battery and create 240V AC 50Hz 'mains' from 12V.

Then plug your mains bike charger or mobile phone charger or TV or whatever into the mains socket.

Best get a pure sine wave inverter or you can damage stuff.

I would be looking to see if there is a 12v charger already available for the bike, because it’s very inefficient to convert 12v dc to 240vac and then drop it back down to a charging voltage which maybe only 18v

No it's not anymore, Inverters are very efficient, can be as good as 95%

It’s still a big waste of power , converting up to mains and back down , waste on inverting up and lots of power turned to heat dropping back down ....

Steve will correct me if I'm wrong but we have a 240v charger for The Present Mrs Hulley (God Bless Her !) 's electric wheelchair. Charging it via the 1000w inverter on a bright sunny day with our 100amp solar panel the leisure battery just about keeps up with the draw.

I can charge an electric scooter from my bus

120 ah leisure battery, 200 watt (effectively 80) solar panel,

and no inverter.....

With a plug in cigar lighter for Dell laptop...

The max rated wattage is 90w, at ( suitable for my machine) 19.6v.

This gives about 200 mins for max charge of 6 kwh Li-ion battery.

For me, the whole point of fitting solar was to provide for all my needs without an inverter..

and being Air-Cooled I need to keep the weight down...

so chinese eber heater, portable compressor fridge, led lighting, low consumption HP notebook, 12v cooling fans..

all running through waterproof cigar outlets, even exterior, many acessories sold as 220 volt are really 12v with a transformer plug,

for example clip on cooling fans for hydroponics and led lighting from Lidl, retro fitted with a cigar plug..

I have a single 220v ac socket for a fan heater when on campsite in winter, which also drives an automatic battery charger.

All this stuff is available on that auction site..

Yes but not much is 12V these days and sometimes 12V version are much more expensive
