Sliding door centre guide rail

Help, I have a 1986 RHD hi-top and the sliding door recently came right off its runners. I need to replace the centre guide rail, it's rusted through and seems to be warped as the door won't go back on. I tried to order a replacement through the VW Heritage site but apparently it's no longer made. Does anyone know where I can get a replica part? Also, there don't appear to be any fixing screws/bolts - does it need to be welded to the side panel? We're currently in Scotland but moving back to Norfolk/Suffolk are soon. We were hoping to get the door fixed so we can get the van MOT'd and drive it down, but may have to resort to hiring a flatbed to transport it if not :(

normally when the door comes off the runner the roller has split in two
are you sure it's not just this?

Brickwerks sell replacements.
