RM122 Alternative Fridge

My Electrolux RM122 has packed up and I'm looking for a replacement. Any suggestions? I don't want to cut the van - new Dometic model that replaces the Electrolux looks good but the flue is on the other side and installation guide says external top and bottom vents are required.

Maybe a compressor fridge is the way to go? Just needs to fit in the existing space.

Thanks

Bob

Are you sure it has had it? Mine was dead and showed zero signs of life. 3 way.

I read it up on the net...

Took it out and turned it upside down for 24 hours.

Right way up, 100% level.

Tried it on mains leccy, it worked.

Tried it on 12v, it worked and flattened a battery quite quickly.
(worth remembering that it only works on 12v in the van when engine is running, I have yet to trace the wiring for this but it works.)

Cleaned burner carefully, made sure lighter works and it works on gas.

Having said that it is more of a cooler than a fridge, takes an age to make an ice cube.

Compressor models seem attractive but apart from the money I fear they'd flatten everything when not hooked up unless you go down the route of solar panels, extra batteries etc.

So gas seems the solution...but I don't really like gas.

Or look at it another way...who has a 30 year old fridge at home...?

Thanks for the comments - the fridge probably can be fixed - I'll try turning it upside down!

I'll admit I was using it as an excuse to swap it out for something with a 240 volt option - current fridge is 12v / gas.

Compressor fridge combined with solar panels and a decent leisure battery could be a good plan if rather expensive.

Thanks again

Bob
