Its a bit of local burn from slipping the clutch, has to start some where. Give it a bit of time and that pattern will be all over it.
Typical of lighter flywheels and/or steel ones that dont have the same capacity for heat as an iron flywheel.

Either that or some really bad out of squareness/parallelism, something forcing the release bearing to act on one side of the clutch fingers so it bites to one side rather than evenly over the whole friction face?

Ian would you just clean up the flywheel or maybe get it re-skimmed?

Give it a rub with a bit of wet n dry and bung it back together, my second hand turbo flywheel was worse than that when I fitted it.

Whats all that black stuff which appears to be stuck to the diaphragm spring fingers? Maybe that has been flying out into the operating faces when you de clutch.
Or it might be partially polished out rust after some very wet adventure like driving at speed through the surf or your local ford
