Hi all. Ok, least favourite of my "oh dear god that sounds expensive" sounds is a crunching gearbox. This is what happened: -
Just pulling up to home and there's a slight noise, maybe a clunk or similar from the back of the bus. I stop outside home, got to shift into "park" and there's a pretty horrible chrunchy noise when going through neutral. Oh dear! I think. Any other gear selected and the noise isn't there. I move into neutral for curiosity's sake (idiot) and the sound is still there. I put her in park and now she won't start, nothing, starter not turning.
Before I get her towed to the nearest auto box specialist, leave a blank cheque book and remortgage my house, any ideas?

So I go to investigate during a break in the rain today and.....
Working fine, started first time, no noise in neutral??? Whoever came round and sorted it- cheers! Lol
Bet it comes back...

If you haven't already a fluids and filter change might be prudent

Was thinking the same... What's with the no start thing though? We all know these things don't go away never to be seen again?!

Its worth checking the contacts at the base of the gear stick.

I did fettle them a while ago but yep, will have another look, cheers...
