81 1600 CT, Replaced the Hall electronic distributor with a secondhand one after the old one packed up ,only done about 100miles since and running fine `till yesterday on the way home a really bad flat spot has occurred ,question if the vac advance and retard unit is at fault can it be repaired or do I look for another Distributor ? ..Thanks.

A ten minute job to replace the vacuum advance unit. Have a suck on the pipe and see if it holds suction/moves the plate in the dizzy.
