15" wheels on a 1.6 jx td

Thinking of changing the wheels over to some 15 inchers with some 215 75 15s - as seem to be the popular choice - to take the edge off the revs on the straights, and feel a little more planted to the road. Also just coz they look better, not gonna lie.

We've got a 1.6 jx turbo diesel 5 speed, which goes fine. No trouble up hills or anything, and it feels like it's got the room to increase the rolling diameter a little.

Has anyone done this on one of these, and how did they find it??

I had 215/65 r 16 on mine for a while. The tyres are 5% larger.
It would go over Saddleworth moor in top.

Generally people suggest that you don't increase tyre diameter more than 5% to avoid too much of a performance hit, but obviously a lot depends on how good your engine is.

If you went with 215/75 R15 this would represent a diameter increase of around 7.5% over the standard 185 R14, and so will probably cause some issues with hills, etc, and so you may find 215/70 R15 would be a better size to go with, as this represents an increase of just under 5%.

And you've got the same as me? How do you find the flats?

i use 215/60/16 tyres on merc toliman alloys on a 2l cu Aircooled van. No problems with gearing and runs really well with this combination.
