Gear linkage

Any one know what's the clicking noise I get when selecting gears... 1900dg 5 speed

is it with only with a particular change or with every one? Mine used to make a noise changing from 1st to 2nd (more of a clunk) which I think was the spring/ball bearing sticking. Once I'd refurbed the linkage the noise stopped.
