Loosening dizzy for timing

Thanks to help on here, I finally found my timing marks, set the idle speed correctly and went to check the timing.
Turns out the timing is at about 3 degrees ATDC rather than the required 5 degrees. Might not be here nor there to be 2 degrees out, but I'd like to get it as right as I can.
Trouble is, how on earth do you loosen the dizzy to adjust it ?
I assume it requires loosening the nut under vacuum advance unit with a wire grounded under it, but there seems to be no way to get a spanner or socket anywhere near gripping it.

Short 13mm spanner normally does the job

hmm, cant seem to get a spanner anywhere nearly on it. It is the nut under the vacuum unit isn't it ?

If nobody else can confirm I'll double check in the morning, there's a 13mm that clamps the dizzy in place and another clamp for adjustment IIRC.

There should be an extended nut on the clamp, easy enough to undo with a 10mm open ended spanner (easier with the air filter removed).

Hmm. Thanks for the picture. I don't remember seeing anything like that, but I'll have another look when I get home.
Cheers.

Sometimes the extended nut has been lost and a standard M6 nut fitted. The extended nuts are no longer available but you can use an m6x40mm stud connector instead.

Thanks for all the help. The photo showed me what I should be looking for. I was imagining something completely different so was blind to it.
TIming now adjusted :D
