Just removed the distributor to replace the ball sensor and there is petrol in the vacuum unit,it's running on a Webber carb and the vacuum pick up is on the carb, this isn't right or is it?

The weber carb isn't right, let alone the petrol.
But the vacuum pick up is from the carb so that's right

The vacuum pipe should always be routed so there is a high point above the fuel level in the carb to stop that happening.

Cheers bigherb, that was what I was thinking as the pipe was routed down below the carb then rose up to the vacuum unit. I'll reroute over the top as it were,it must have been doing this for years.
Thanks for the responses chaps.
