turning a 2.6 south african t25 into a camper

Hi there

I'm considering importing a microbus from South Africa. Has anyone had experience of turning one into a camper? I see that the boot floor is higher so was wondering how straightforward is it to fit a rock and roll bed? I'm after a multivan type arrangement.

Regards

Keith

They usually come with a R&R rear seat/bed as standard. Unfortunately you have two thirds of the bed padded and the rest not (ie the raised engine cover) . I get around it by using a memory foam topper and sleeping with my feet towards the tailgate.

Any idea on the cost of import, Keith

TBH, they dont lend themselves to being camperized. I remodelled the middle bench to become a second rear-facing rock n roll bench (we needed all the seats) and they meet in the middle when folded down.
All the gear goes in the back, which is also the "field kitchen" but there's no floor space.
It works, but its compromized and only sleeps two.
