Stub Axle/Steering knuckle...

Hi there, I'm new on here, so please be gentle with me. Quick question! Are a stub axle and wheel knuckle two completely separate items? We need a front passenger side stub axle, but when I search for one, steering knuckle seems to come up a lot. Sorry if this is the stupidest question ever...

They're generally interchangeable terms.

Be aware that there are different versions of the front steering knuckles depending on whether you have ABS, and manual or power steering.

There are also early and late versions (identified by the brake caliper type)

No that is interesting. Im running Auto/PAS/ABS model.
I thought ABS version was same as normal with just a knock on sensor ring and appropriate wiring?

Thanks for info :ok

Stub axle and steering knuckle are a one-piece part, the yanks call them spindles which is another name bandied about by the instant experts.

Pretty sure that ABS only came on PAS uprights (higher spec vans/buses)

Also there are uprights for early and late brakes: the former has threaded tappings in the upright, the latter has plain drillings and the threads in the caliper/pad carrier.
