Changing gearbox on a 5 speed gear box

Does anyone know if it's a good idea to change a 5speed gear box to a 4 speed on a 1987 1.6 TD as I can't get parts for my box?

Do you know what the code is of the 4 speed box you are thinking of using.

all parts are available for the 5 speed, just may be expensive for new parts, what's up with it ?
