Does anyone use one of these mobile hookup kits?

Wondered what you thought of them?

got a mate who uses one.all campsites i know of with electric hookup points insist you use one of those.if you dont have a built in hookup point in your van/caravan...

I use one and have found it invaluable. The big advantage is that if i drive off site then I can leave the hookup behind to power my fridge which I keep in the awning.

I've recently sold one on ebay, it was a 3 socket type similar to the one in your picture.

I got it because at the time my van wasn't wired up for mains supply. I found it to be OK but rather bulky.

I think initially they were made for tent/caravan dwellers, mine had 2 clips that fastened onto the tent pole or awning frame.

I paid £80 for the 3 socket outlets type.

I much prefer having the van 'wired up'.

If your gonna get one you need 25 mtres of cable I think--10 mtres sounds ok--but on site you may be dissapointed----£80?--expensive-------ok---I'll probably get flamed here----but whats wrong with a £10 wind up extention lead from B&Q----cut off 3 pin plug & replace with £4 blue/white plug?--I mean--yer only runnin a fridge & heater or summat--not a Flymo---iirc you can buy rcd plugs quite cheap--

excactly wot i done billy easy peasy and cost me £13 in total and 5 mins of my time also a freind bought me one of those units find it to bulky though

I wanted the correct, rated hook-up, to keep my insurance valid.

The 'correct' hook up leads are designed to carry 16amps.

Check what the wind up cables can carry, I have two in my shed, one is 6amp max the other 8amp, and that is when fully unwound, if some is still wound it is less.
