Hi
I am looking for a T25 camper and have a missus that feels the cold.
The van heaters that some have, can they be fitted to a van that doesn't have one or would it have to be done at the conversion stage?


She's more likely to let me have one if it's going to be warm!

Sorry if its a dumb question but there will be more of those I'm sure!

Google"night heaters"either diesel or gas, we have a propex heater and it's very efficient working on gas.My wife loves it!

I have a Propex which works great, but if you're running off hook-up power I also carry a normal plug in electric heater which does the trick well too, just saves using the gas

A world of luxury awaits you and your better half. The wife tells me she would not go back to tent camping- the best thing about the camper being the Rock and roll bed, in her opinion, plus the convenience of fridge and cooker. In retrospect or if starting from scratch, we would now go for a pop top or elevating roof - but the bit of extra height even with roof down limits entry to car parks with two metre height restrictions.
We don't have a fitted heater, and in fact the radiant campinggaz heater we have has yet to be used in anger. As you will know any non vented fuel using appliances MUST have adequate ventilation... So would only use in the annex tent.
Hot water bottles are a boon, while a friend of ours used to keep her pyjamas and woollies under the rear mattress above the engine compartment.
The only plus point for tents that springs to mind is that rain on the roof is quieter...

Yes I am currently torn between pop top and high top as i am sure most people are when they start out

I will be traveling with just 2 adults but also 3 dogs so storage space may be handy. I like the look of pop tops more though!
Going to be a tough decision

Invest in a good sleeping bag. Should be fine unless camping between November and February.

Oldiebutgoodie on this forum does petrol or diesel heaters at a great price too

Well looks like we have bought a van with a propex system in it only thing is it hasn't been used for 12 years!
Propex offer a service and safety check so will get them to look at it

I've recently dug out the really old propex I bought years ago to get it ready to fix. Even though a long since unsupported model I found Propex to be really helpful by email and more than happy to offer free advice rather than the usual "we don't support that please buy a brand new really expensive replacement".

Now looking forward to year round off-grid camping!

Fitting a Propex yourself isn't too bad at all. The hardest part is cutting the two holes that vent to the outside. Plumbing the gas is fairly straightforward. B&Q even stock the copper pipe and they should have the olives, if not Toolstation inside Wickes does. Then check for leaks - soapy water helps. Don't forget to fit a detector.

I too have a mrs that feels the cold. When we got our van it had a propex fitted they are good heaters
But i removed it to remove the fitted gas appliances in our van, fitted under the cupboard space under the rock
And roll bed,i replaced it with a d2 eberspacher from my ex military defender, had to drill another hole for
The exhaust but it fitted where the propex was, i used a plastic diesel jerry can which fitted in the space behind the rear lights, it runs leagally on red diesel for heating purposes and gets the van up to toasty hot quickly.
If you go down the eberspacher route its best wired directly to the battery,not via the zig unit like i
First did which threw up four fault codes and wouldn't fire up because it cant supply enough amps

Don't forget that most red diesel is the kiss of death for some heaters due to the higher sulphur content.( I can show you pics of heaters that have been run on dodgy fuel) For the amount that you use why bother.
If you have a petrol van why not just use a petrol heater?
