Subaru conversion/Diesel Tank ?

Hi

Has anyone kept the diesel tank when converting to Subaru ?

Mine has the early metal filler neck and to use the recommended 2.1 injection tank adds up to a lot of unexpected extra £££ with all the gibbons associated with the tank change

The tank itself isn't so bad @ £80 + the feed and return pipe kit from brickwork...... but its the bits that won't match such as filler neck/ elbow etc that push the total to about £250

I was expecting the unexpected,,,, but this unexpected..... wasn't expected

Its the bore of the supply/return pipes that fit the subaru fuel system make the 2.1 recommended.... have considered wielding a boss on the tank and braizing bigger pipes on / or a brass pipe reducer immediately in line just before the tank... would the reduced bore over a short length really affect delivery ???

Thanks

matt

My tank is an injection one, but, it came from a 1.9 injected wbx, not a 2.1 (DH code) it's outlet is 7 or 8mm. It steps up to 12mm to go into the fuel pump, right after the tank. It's fine, though I am changing it soon because it's corroded and dinted. So perhaps you'll be fine?

The tank for the fuel injection has a swirl pot inside , I wouldn't risk using your old diesel tank , you could save some money by buying a second hand plastic filler neck to save money.
