Tints - Sliding Windows

Hi all! It's time to renew the tints on my bus - has anybody ever dismantled the factory Multivan sliders to tint to the edge of the glass or, if not, has anybody succeeded in sliding the film between the seal and out glass?
Thanks

I have pulled the glass out to do this but I was also replacing all the felt seals and the nylon slider inserts the sliding glass frame runs on as they were all available apart from the right angle seal at the top 10-12 years ago - I wouldn't do it now, you have to pull the frame apart slightly as well I found so you mark the frame with the tool you use to spring it.
I'd actually just get a new set of sliding windows made by LiesureWindows or whoever with the tint I wanted and fit them with new frame to body seals after touching up the inevitable rust on the body, as fitting tint film to old glass rarely gets brilliant results I have found, even fitting it to new glass is hard unless you have a clean room environment as there's always some dust or seeds in the air which get in the mix;
and I would then sell the genuine VW windows as rare cherry parts to offset the cost and claim the time and hassle saving against the cost of the new windows

I’ve never done this but you have to unscrew ‘item 20’.

Hmm I'll let the tinters take a look and see if they think they can slide the film between the seal somehow

They’ll just cut it short. If you want it past the seal, you’ll have to remove ‘only’ the slider for them. The other part of the window can stay in.

Isn't Item 20 in the diagram just the sprung latch? I can't see how that will allow removal? I'd have thought there'd be some screws or clips behind the channels

glass is put into channels as it is formed, the slider runs on the plastic runners 16 which will probably break up if removal of them attempted, I don't know if they are available now. The latch 21 has to be removed so 20 undone allows the latch to be taken off, access is very difficult as it is from below

Ok looks like I might just have them tinted up-to the seal again and carry on using the black tape on the outside to cover seal! Doesn't actually look bad - just would've been nicer
Thanks all
