New rear handbrake cable doesn't locate in rear backplate

As above. They all seem pretty cheap so got one on eBay but the locating tang is not angled like the original and doesn't clip into the backplate. Is this normal for these aftermarket parts or does it sound wrong?
Cheers

or are you referring to something else?

Ah. I searched for that thread.
Was really useful when I first got my van.

Thanks for that. My new cable doesn't locate in the backplate as the metal tang just flaps about. Have ended up putting the old cable back on although removing it mullered the locating tang so have put a couple of spot welds on to hold it in place. Not ideal but hey ho

I can't think what you mean by 'tang' - tang is usually applied to something like tang of a file or sword/knife - the part that should go into the handle. (I have always assumed that tang is a corruption of tongue or vice versa ) The only bit that I know that locates in the backplate is the shoulder at the end of the cable outer - this just needs reducing in diameter by 0.5mm.

Ì suspect that the cable sheath won't fit as per thread

Couldn't think of the word to describe the tang but it is the cable sheath / shoulder which locates in the backplate. It was loose in my backplate and flapped around. That sounds a bit weird doesn't it
