Been having starting troubles so bought new starter motor, fitted it and it just ‘clicks’. The old one was definitely shot as it won’t turn over when I hook it up to a battery.
Started poking around to look for reasons why only to find both studs holding the alternator bracket have snapped off. Anyone got any tips on getting these out? Is it an engine out job and is this why the starter won’t turn over?

If it clicks once every time you turn the key, it nearly always means that the starter relay isn't engaging the starter solenoid or that the starter motor's brushes or windings have failed so the motor won't spin. It might also mean, though, that the engine has seized and impossible for the starter motor to turn over. Probably the relay in your case, if I was a betting man.

With regard to the alternator studs, depends how bad they are. Post a picture and we can advise. If they have some stud left on them you can get some mole grips on them and unscrew them. Plus gas them over night first though.
