Hi,
I am intending to take out the pedal box to refurb the pivot bushes and to check out wear on the clevis fork connection points. I will also be fitting a 10" servo while I'm in there.

Can anyone confirm that, once the two master cylinders and the servo are detached/removed, the pedal box assembly can be drawn out through the instrument space in the top of the dash? Or do I need to remove the whole dash first?

I had to take the dash out but I think it may be possible to get it out by taking out the steering column and withdrawing from below.
The pedals are too wide to out from above.
I'm sure someone will have a better way.
Not a pleasant job and you need to be flexible.

dash out job on a lhd, pretty certain same applies to rhd
you may need to remove pedal foot rubber to get it out as well

Thanks guys. general opinion seems to be that it may be possible but very difficult to get the pedals out with the dash in place but that it is not too big a job to take the dash out.

This is probably going to turn into a complete 'under the dash' refurb - pedals, servo, heater box, wiper mech, etc. Anything else to think of while I'm in there?

Fit two speakers under there. Its easy with dash out and surprisingly, they can sound excellent. Thats where mine are

are you suggesting extra speakers under the dash or putting the fron pair there instead of in the doors?

Gary, I hear that the servo swap is possible with the dash in place but to get the pedal box out the dash must be removed.
On a rhd its a "chinese puzzle" type of trick, iirc you have to lift it up and point the servo/master cylinder out the driver's door on the angle, rolling the hook of the pedals behind the crash beam, if you get my drift.
Its not obvious and very tight for clearance, at least it was on my syncro when I did the job.

I've been away for a week so only just seen this.
Need to order some parts and set a time for getting on with this.

During the summer and all the other things getting higher priority, this job has grown to include refurb'ing the heater as well - fan is squeaking, one fan speed is failing intermittently, etc. Now that Brickwerks have the heater foam kits back in stock I can order all the bits I want.

My brake pedal pivot seems good, with very little sideways movement but the clutch has 10mm or more movement in each direction. Unfortunately it seems you can only get new bushes for the brake and not for the clutch. Has anyone found bushes or sorted another way of taking out the play?

If not, it might just be a case of cleaning greasing the bushes and living with the slack.

did you learn anything about the pedal box removal on the rhd? i want to get at the clutch clevis fork pin. i had a poke around underneath and access is awful without removal (seemed to be impossible to see/feel whats going on, and ive got small arms).  id rather not take out the dash again- any luck with removal though the top?

You can get at the clevis without dismantling anything else other than the clutch pedal but it not an easy job. I remember making a spanner specifically for something which made it a tiny bit easier but cannot remember exactly what or why! If I can do it with bad arthritis a younger and fitter guy should find it easier.
I welded mine up and re-made the holes on mine, I was going to put bushes in but there wasn't enough meat around the holes to do it. I think that I have a S/H good pedal in the workshop if you need one. E D I T.... yes, see below.

did you remove the clutch pedal there from below (taking it off the pivot 'pin'), and left the the rest in place?  i couldnt even get an eyeball on the clevis pin to gauge how worn it might be   i read that access is a bit easier on a lhd van.   so how did you get your pedal out then? (minus the forgotten spanner details!) spill the beans!

I’ve changed the pedal box and servo etc with the dash in place , wasn’t particularly difficult, a little fiddly but didn’t take more than 2 hrs
