Hightop to a pop top.

Hi all.

I’m possibly looking at swapping my hightop roof for a westy roof, I know there is enough metal at the front of the roof and also the rear.
But how much metal on the sides will I need for the gas struts to anchor to and the brackets for the back of the poptop?
Just wondering if anyone has done this or has a westy roof and can let me know how much I would need?

I have researched and found out about the cut at the front and that I would need to make a new roof skin, but just can’t find info on the sides

Thank you

I put a Westy pop top on my factory standard tin top. Had several folk tell me it couldn't be done and the Westy's had a different roof skin fitted and I'd have to graft a full Westy metal roof onto my van and loads more stuff - that all turned out to be wrong. 4 years I think since I did it and it's never had any issues. I put some photos of the installation in a thread in here so i'll try and find a link. Let me know if you want any measurements taking.

Westy roof H bar stands on a lip just inwards from the upper longitudinal structural brace. you need to fabricate something there if there is not enough roof skin there.
