Going to have to cut/grind off the hose clips and crimp sleeves as they are well rusted and I can see the plastic distorting as I apply force.
Anyone any idea on their availability should I bust one?

(I guess their strange shape is more to suit the manufacturing method i.e plastic moulded, than functionality)

I'm guessing you are talking injectors?

you can cut them off with wire cutters easy enough, injectors are strong don't be shy

Or if you're lucky like me, they might have already rusted off!

I'm sure you can also get hold of them much closer to home.

Sorry folks. Yes I found the images in the post referred to very informative thanks. I meant the what appears to plastic four way connector/distribution chamber gismo - one on each cylinder pair - with the title "Fuel ring main" against it on the page: Water-cooled Digijet Systems component layout section 24-23 in my Bentleys.

Doh! I Should have just said plastic looking thing with four pipes feeding the injectors. KISS -

'Fuel rail' they're called. Cut the pipes in the middle and the ends on the rail should twist off with some WD-40 I think?

There are metal replacement s available, if you feel the need for spending and overkill

I have spare injectors and fuel rails should you need any.

oem clips and fuel clips can be cut off with wire cuters too

I removed bolt and pulled injectors and pipes off as a complete assy.
then remove retaining rubber ring on each injector and take metal plate off
then easier to pull injectors off
then fuel pipes come off

Removing the retaining bolt, was probably the hardest part of the job!

Thanks again folks. I guess I am a bit over twitchy about collateral damage when dealing with the WBX regarding finding parts. But in reality over time I have found it isn't as bad as I first imagined especially with the forum help. My work on the exhaust, installing a Blazecut, replacing the water pump plus some general tidying up is done and the engine is back in. So a test run down to my family (in Itchyfeet territory) will be done before I attack the fuel pipes with renewed confidence.

BTW I was pleasantly surprised to find that the engine less alternator can be slid back in under the engine bay from behind the offside rear wheel on a bit of plywood with only a pair of plastic leveling ramps under the rear wheels.

I'm from Herts originally some family still there.

when I saw a complete injection system come I I bought it so I have every spare.
it's easy to buy spare when they come up much harder to buy just when you need it.
you can always sell spares so you never loose your money
