1.9 dg engine distributer replacement

Hi,
I have a problem with my T3 petrol 1.9 dg distributer which means i need a new one.....There is currently a huge problem getting hold of one and i havn't been able to use my van for months.
Is there any way around it.....is there an alternative i can use?
Thanks for any help, i'm stuck and I'm afraid my summer travel plans are going up in smoke

Yes powerspark do a conversion but I'm surprised you have not been able to buy a second hand DG dizzy they are not hens teeth.

not sure if you need to change the coil too but somebody on here will know.
Deffo need to remove ignition amplifier and do some basic wiring changes to use powerspark.

Great, thanks for the replies.....I've put an ad in the wanted section and if that doesn't work, I'll go for the power spark.

Its actualy my girlfriends van, and has been to a couple of garages, both specialist vw. I think its some kind of wear that means the rota arm keeps coming off or somethng is actually broken but am not sure of the exact details. Both say it needs a new distributer and repair is not possible. Sorry i can't be more specific.
