Been prepping some holes I’ve found in order to fit seat belts In the rear for the kids. Found that my bed is not rock and roll as I thought it was, in that it’s not a solid frame that bolts in and lays flat. Instead at eithe end there is a l shaped bracket with two boards so when housed it forms the seat shape but wen pulled it then lays flat and creates the bed. Obvious weakness is that the boards are taking all the weight along there length as the brackets are right on the ends.

What are these brackets? Any good mods to improve them?

That's how it is ,hinges each end then either metal frame seat base and back or plywood boards reinforced with hardwood/metal supports underneath.
