Loud hum inside camper

Hi,

I have a 1984 Westfalia Camper. Today as my wife was cleaning the inside getting the van ready for summer, a loud hum could be heard coming from around the electric socket and the inside fuse block.

I disconnected the battery, however this had no effect. I then disconnected the leisure batteries and this stopped the noise. If I connect the batteries up again the loud hum starts again, so it is a fault on the leisure battery side, the van will still drive, but I am not sure how to fix this problem. I am based in south Manchester and will contact an auto electrian tomorrow. Does anybody know what the fault is or has this happened to anybody else?

Thanks

Ian

Thank you for the reply,

No hook up was plugged in. This has happened whilst the van is parked on my drive.

Regards
