So I'm stripping everything off the van for a major body repair, welding, painting etc. and I'm concerned about storing all the hydraulic brake and clutch components for a year or so. Every thing is in good working condition and I'd like to be able to re-fit everything back on when the time comes.
Are there any steps I should take to preserve the components during storage? Even the pipes can be re-fitted as they're in good condition.

Our van has just had a major overhaul and I've replaced the old pipework for the OEM Brickworks ones. The list of what's new will see our friend Mr Baxter in the Seychelles yet

I've heard about air and moisture reacting with brake fluid and sometimes creating crystals. Just want to be able to prevent this when storing all the components.

How about using one of those large vacuum bags for blankets etc. You should be able to get the majority of components in one except for very long pipes that can't be bent.

Has anyone stored hydraulic components for any length of time before and had any issues? I might be over thinking things.

I had a pair of front calipers in a garage for years, the brake pipe had been cut and crimped to keep the brake fluid in.

They worked fine after being flushed with new fluid.

Keep the fluid in or the seals will dry out.
