Hi

Bought a lovely t25 camper this week. I’ve got 2 an 3 year old boys that are still in car seats and must get some seat belts fitted to the rear seats (rock and roll bed) pronto, so that we can start using the van. Am I going to face any problems achieving this? Is it a headache job that requires the layout of the van to change at all to fix on to legally acceptable mountings?

Basically after some advice from others that might have had to do the same and if there’s any mobile company’s out there that can do the job on the driveway.

There are kits you can buy, depends on how happy you are to fit yourself.

Brickwerks sell a kit I think.

Seatbelt is only as good as the seat, is your seat made out of wood ? Does the foam move about ?

Yeah i see what your saying. Obviously the better the seat frame to fix the belt kits to the better the belts are going to actually preform.

You’re very unlikely to be able to fit the belts to the rock and roll, they just aren’t fixed to the van well enough. There are fixing points in the rear, on the side, and the central points are on the engine bulkhead. I’ll post some photos later.

There appear to be two different styles available... I made my own from a hefty piece of R&R hinge.

The belt goes up to a loop fitted on the pillar - there is a bleb on the bodywork to indicate were it goes when fitted at the factory...

Ending up a bit like this....

...but you’ll see I’ve a second reel and loop fitted as well (from seatbeltservices linked to above. This gives me 2 lap and diagonal belts in the rear on a 3/4 rock and roll, as I’ve cupboards on the RHS. The extra reel and the loops have strengthening plates behind the bodywork. Again see Brickwerks for examples. (Other stockists are available...)

Moving to the receivers...
No, first to the fixed end of the lap and diagonal, fits in this hole...

Then the receivers fit at the top of the sloping section




I’ve three receivers for a double tongue arrangement for the second lap and diagonal so that it can all be moved to the back for sleeping.


I think there are positions marked for receivers, dunno if I aired mine correctly - don’t think it matters as there is no strengthening built in, that’s added with a plate on the rear under the nut.

If I was doing it again, I’d have the receivers on flexi stalks, rather than belts, as that might be easier to fish out from behind the rock and roll, or at least not fall down.

I think originally the centre seat just had a lap belt.. this way, if you’ve a full width R&R you can have three lap and diagonal belts.

Thanks for this mate bloody hell spot on!!

Looks pretty involved and will need to strip a fair bit of interior out to get it sorted but this is exactly what I was after.

Might have to tap you up for advice when I get round to getting it done.

Hope you don’t find too much rust when you do strip it, that’s why I can take photos at present - dealing with rust...
Glad to be of help tho. And if you have more kids, you’ll need to be more inventive...
