Hello, I have just fitted a new clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder to my van.
Fitting went relatively well although fiddly.
Only problem I have is the pedal feels to soft or not enough resistance.

The clutch itself is brand new and the whole van hasn't been on the road since rebuild so all clutch parts are new now.
The pedal felt quite heavy before with the old cylinders.

I have bled the system using a "2 people method" and I've also used a gunsons easy bleed system but still no different on the pedal, it just feels to soft and smooth.

Is this normal or has it still not bled through properly?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Also gear selection is ok (not driving) and biting point seems ok.

I can't comment re the new clutch but after replacing my cylinder it took a fair bit of bleeding to get it right. I then took it for a short drive and had to bleed it again.

You have said that the gear selection / biting point seems fine so I think it's just the new components that you aren't used to - quite normal for a clutch to become heavier as it ages due to wear on the guide sleeve. Had exactly the same scenario on a Polo a few years ago.

Thanks for your replies. I think your right its probably just going to take some getting used to but at least its working ok. ill see how it drives when ive got an MOT booked in then next few weeks and maybe try bleeding it again.

The clutch should self bleed.
Fill the reservoir and open the bleeder.
I've never had to pump one yet
