Over he past couple of days i have been trying to sort out the electrics on my devon. I was having problems with relays clicking (amongst other things). Worked out were everything wire was coming from or going to and managed to reinstate the split charger. It all seems to be running as it should no but the relay that is controlling the split charge is still clicking. What would the likly cause of this be? also i have checked that the correct voltage is where it should be. Any idea's appreciated. :!:

If your split charge relay is tied into your alternator charge warning light, it may be clicky because the alternator is struggling to charge the main batery. Is your battery cahrge warning light coming on at all, even glowing dimly? If your realy is linked to the alternator and there is a voltage difference between the alternator and battery charge I think the relay will activate.

The relay currently gets its switch live from the coil not the alternator, but where i have been reading up on this i can't decided if this is best. Just orderd another relay just in case the one i origanlly brought was knackered.

Stavros, not sure why it would be wired to coil, the advantage of controlling the relay from the alternator charge warning light is that if the van battery i.e. the one that starts your engine, is not getting charge then the relay closes and all charge energy is directed to the van battery.

This website I found really helpful when setting up my split charging

http://www.kampenwagen.co.uk/split%20charge%20relay.htm

also keith and sylvia's website is brilliant but i can'y find theri link at mo.

Hope this helps
