water bottles an inline water pumps. what size bottles do you have? I'm after a small one, as i'm limitedon space and i wont be using it for drinking water etc. I'm thinking of using a small water container from the camping shop. ( rectangular bottle with a green tap thing on). I'm thinking that if i remove the green tap thing then i can slot the pump into the bottle from there. Just wondered what you guys use.

i've got a 20ltr water jerry can i got form work, i only ever fill it half way as never use that much water but it was there at the time and works fine the water pump is a submersable one i just drop it in the can

might be worth having a word with tt dave and see if he knows of anyone (the sherrif) who might have a s/h for sale!

I've seen a water bottle that fits between rear cupboard and boot door - it is specifically shaped to fit in this area. I have looked around, but not seen one as yet. Anyone know where they can be found?

Not fitted a pump yet, but propose to get a "Whale" type submersible pump - they're about £22 arn't they? Are they controllable simply by the tap switch and battery, or is there some form of foot switch as well?

I think you'll find a whale submersable is dearer
yes you can get a tap with a micro switch that works the pump when turned on

I think you may have seen the original blue Devon water container which is sloped at the top and fits in the space you mentioned (It's also got wheels incorporated)

I use a blue Devon one, only half fill it otherwise it splashes water all over the place past the pump hose.

PS: We never drink the water from the container (it gets heated by the sun, we just use it for washing dishes, showering etc.,) we drink bottle water.

Like Spannerrack says, some taps do have a micro switch to control the water pump. Other options are a foot switch or a finger operated press
switch just below the sink/drainer. It's all a matter of personal preference, layout of your van & the amount of dosh you want to spend.

Kathy, I've got the original waterbottle that was in our van ... 20 Ltr. (I think ?) It has a hole in the screw cap for a hose, so the pump can either be submersible or inline.

I can bring it to DF if you'd like it, Beer & Donuts etc ?

If you're thinking of doing a lot of camping an underslung tank's the way to go (in my opinion that is)

thanks for offer, alas not going to DF. I have a couple of bottles in the garage, so they will probably do.
How much you looking at for one of those that go under the van, anyone know? and can you use the submersible pumps, ie the ones you just drop in?

I've got an underslung tank and never use it, I'm not paying to lug all that water around, never use the sink either, it's easier to use\a bucket imo, and you can take it outside and do in the dishes in the sun , or on a proper site just carry them in the bucket up to the sinks. We rarely rough camp for more than 2 nights so bottles of water suffice, again if on site just keep on refilling a 2 litre bottle. I suppose it depends how you use your van, if the weather is good all we do in ours is sleep in it.

Roughly £100 for a complete (40Litre ?) kit, mounting kit,tank,fittings,locking cap etc etc.
