Hi,

I removed the old Accelerator Pump Diaphragm only to find the replacement was the wrong size. So gasket was a bit knackered before re-fitting the old one again. Would that cause sporadic stalling, cutting out and a generally rough ride as he was absolutely fine before that.

I think the answer is yes.
If it was ok before why did you want to disturb it?
It reads like you hsve got some crap in the float bowl and its got into the idle jet

Nah, took carb off and gave it a good clean - might do it again though.

Also, took old diaphragm off as the result of tonnes of advice re a flat spot.

The knackered gasket - which one are you referring to? If it's one of the gaskets either side of the spacer below the carb, or even the one between the two halves of the carb, then an air leak there could cause the problems you describe.

I was talking about the gasket on the Accelerator pump.

Also is seems nobody does the longer version unless you buy the whole rebuild kit.

Ah, ok - I thought maybe you'd removed the carb to change the diaphragm.

I guess a poor seal there would show as fuel leaking out and/or air entering when the throttle is pressed. I don't know if that would cause your symptoms.

Can't help with a stand-alone source of the longer diaphragm I'm afraid.
