Bought a DJ engine for stock...

...and its telling a tale!
First of all, I was stone cold sober at all times and wide awake when making the purchase, so no accusations are being levelled whatsoever!
Here's the cautionary tale:
So, I bought a DJ complete with efi system, loom, speedshop exhaust, recent injector refurb etc etc and the price was good.
Seller declared that it had developed a knock, but was a daily driver, so it was coming out to make way for a Subaru.
Fair enough, all up front and its an early suffix B case that had been re-coded, possibly a DG originally.
So what did I find on stripping it down?
Well, all the head studs released with a satisfying "crack" so were all holding torque nicely and it has got DJ pistons, but oh boy it has been subject to some interesting repairs...
