1.6 TD ? jx Intermediate pulley.

Anyone know if pulleys with and without the ridge around the edge are interchangeable, or why they are different. Mine has the ridge which is damaged and wearing the belt. Can they be swapped or even have the ridge ground off?

As in title, intermediate pulley. or oil pump pulley or idler pulley. The one driven by the smooth side/back of the cambelt. They come with a ridge around the outide or with no ridge.
