Trailer tent for my Syncro

I've been looking around for a trailer I can use on the back of the Syncro. Problem is that a standard trailer has crap ground clearance and little wheels. I want one that doesn't drag it's backside on the tarmac when towing. I also want it to haul camping crap and for it to double as a trailer tent for sleeping only. I already have the fridge, sink and cooker so don't need any of that in the trailer.

I guess I could get a trailer specially made without too much bother but wondered where I might get a tent top made. Any ideas?

Any ideas where I might fullfill this tall order.

Here's a couple available for mega bucks in other countries

I like this one below but a bit pricy and would have to be imported from the states.

A cheap alternative is the british army Sankey trailer. This is a very heavy and strong trailer hitched up with a Nato ring, but can be modified. Usually see them advertised in Land rover magazines, and start at around £100. they use the standard Land Rover 16" wheel, and will be dragged along anywhere. They do off road trailer towing events using them at shows like the Billing Aquadrome Land Rover meet. I have often thought of modifying one.

Thought of a Sankey but thought the hitch might be a problem. Any idea about how easy it is to convert one?

I am sure that I have seen a conversion in a magazine somewhere. i will have a look. I think it just means cutting the old one and welding on a bar with holes to bolt on a standard hitch. Crook Brothers near bolton would know. They cant get rid of them so they are very cheap for what they are.

Im in the middle of building such a trailer but not getting to far with it cuz of my divorce. A galvanised steel chassis with an aluminium body (keep it light) to hold spare wheels, genny, tools and fuel and a roof tent on top. Made trailing arm suspension especially designed for the job fitted with T25 rear hubs and brakes so I can use the same wheels as the syncro. Got the idea from an Australian magazine.
have designed a special hitch for off road work as well cuz the standard ones dont have enough articulation. Might have it all ready by next year!!

You could just get a pintle style hitch for the Sankey.

There are combination ones available which will cover you for every eventuality.

Looked at these before but I want a ball and hitch style. These ex MOD trailers a far too heavy anyway. I want to be less than 500kgs all up
