Hi gang,

Not sure where to put this one...

Having done the front wheel bearing on the nearside, which I was pretty chuffed with something else has cropped up....

Whilst driving freewheeling or in drive there is a strange squeeking kind of noise... when the van is stationary no noise. Its coming from the back area. Difficult to explain the noise.. even more difficult to pin point the noise. Sounds high pitched, like a budgie is in the back, and no there isnt one in there.

Belt maybe?? But this whould happen when the engine is stationary also. It only seems to happen when moving. Do I sound crazy?? Any ideas where to look

Not sure if its brake related... caliper rubbing against disk. I didnt change disk when doing bearings.. maybe I should have

Water pump makes a similar noise to fan belt and is usually worse on startup as the pump wears. Remove the belt and see if theres any play in water pump pulley.

From my own experience of a similar noise...
Rear hub makes a squeak if the hub nut isn't tight enough and the hub puts upward pressure on the seal.
Doesn't squeak if you jack the wheel up and spin the wheel so it's a hard one to diagnose.

Having moved front wheel and giving it a spin, it seems related to my recent Wheel Bearing change.

If you have a lip of rust around the edge of the disc that'll do it, you can knock the rust off with a hammer.
It might just be that your pads need time to bed into the disk again.
Make sure the brake hose isn't rubbing on the disk though, that would be catastrophic if it wears through.

Taken everything off...started again.

Now for some reason I cant get the disk off.... Something is not right here. My inital confidence in doing this job.. has gone

Some sort of puller to get the hub off
Be carefull of the speedo hole and threads, I'd cover that up.
It's probably only nipped on.

I guess you could bolt the wheel back on to give yourself a little extra purchase.

I might get a block of wood and a big hammer and hit it from behind?? Good idea.. well I havent got another one
