Fitting a Pierburg on a 2.1 - help!

My old 1.9 DG finally expired and I`m transplanting all the ancillaries onto a new 2.1 including the carb. Almost done, but when I came to fit the carb and manifold the holes are a few mm out and I can`t get it to fit unless I replace the `thick` bakerlite gaskets with thinner paper ones.
I`ve been scratching my head for a few days now and can`t understand why the old manifold doesn't quite line up with the holes on the new motor which is fitted with brand new AMC (Spanish I think) heads. Anybody help???

Do you mean the gaskets between the inlet manifold and the cylinder heads? I believe they are supposed to be the 1mm paper type, rather than the thicker bakelite versions. See here for instance.

I was puzzled by the thicker ones in my gasket kit too, but I think they're for the injection setups.

Yes, use the thin gaskets .

and get them on right, they are NOT symmetrical, they should align with the inlet ports on the head, check before fitting.

Yes, the green ones with the larger holes ... most kits have the DF ones in as well, they are similar but have a smaller hole

Thanks to everyone who replied with help and advice. Still a little confused as the old 1.9 dg was fitted with the thicker gaskets???
My guess is that the manifold set up should use these too assuming that the 1.9 and 2.1 blocks are the same.....

yes engines are the same, somebody bodged it before, probably forced the bolts in.
