Hi-Top Sealant

Hello, I've recently acquired a 1985 bus with a Sheldon top on. Whilst it is not leaking, the seal is looking quite old and I was thinking of renewing it. Am I right in thinking Sikaflex would be the correct substance to use? Also, should I dig out the old stuff, or is it fine to overlay fresh on top? I've currently smothered a hard wearing wax(Collinite 476s), to assist the existing seal in keeping water out, so will be wiping down with IPA and then treating any visible gutter surface rust with Vactan before the new seal goes on.

I removed old sealant where it looked as though it was lifting away, if it looked ok then I layered over it. Silkaflex is fine (I used 'Serious Stuff' all weather and outdoor sealant/adhesive which is similar.
